StepWay Finder is a stand alone module of the StepWay Suite. This Suite is designed to ensure the management of technical documents (descriptive and applicable) throughout the Life Cycle of an Industrial Installation.

Stepway Finder is proposed as a comprehensive and portable solution for the delivery and exchange of project data and documents, in response to the increasing demand for reliable access to accurate and correct information on a project.

Stepway Finder is a module which ensures access to "read only" copies of one or several document databases (extracted or not from a Docbase) at a low cost. A Documentum Docbase user can then provide selected project participants with a "read only" copy of a full or partial Docbase for :

-Technical Documentation related to the Call for Bid,
- Preparation of the As Built Dossier for the EPC contract,
- Preparation and Execution of the Maintenance Engineering,
- Preparation for Operations.

The richness of the functions in the StepWay Suite (Engineer and Operator) are therefore available to all project participants. Customized Search Tables can be developed via the API (Application Programming Interface).

 

StepWay Finder is designed to provide the search functionality of StepWay Engineer and StepWay Operator associated with the navigation capabilities of Hyperviewer, in a "read only" Docbase, on autonomous work stations. It is intended to be used when, for example, the network infrastructure or geographic location does not allow a connection to the project Docbase.

StepWay Finder can be used independently of, or in conjunction with, the other modules of the StepWay Suite.

StepWay Finder is fully compatible with StepWay Engineer, StepWay Operator and Hyperviewer, providing the same user interface.

 

This module allows users to navigate easily in order to access, view and export project documents and associated data stored on a CD-ROM. The following standard document retrieval criteria, as well as the navigation functionality of Hyperviewer are available :

- Type of Document - Issuing Date - Discipline
- Document Title - Vendor Name - Area
- Document Reference - PO Number - System Name
- Revision - Tag Number - System Code

These criteria can be parameterized for a particular Docbase.

The space available on a CD-ROM (about 600 megabytes for data and documents) allows for the storage of a large amount of documents, in either native format files (which can be viewed from the CD-ROM using the native applications), or renditions. Regardless of which documents are selected to be included on the CD-ROM (whether due to space limitations or considerations of usefulness) the attributes of ALL of the project documents may be included as part of the search table.

Documents and data can be exported from StepWay Finder, in order to populate other data and document bases (EDMS, CMMS, Spare Parts Systems, etc).

The CD-ROM may be created in a project context where no EDMS is being used, or it can be derived from an existing document management system (for example, automated export from a Docbase). Versions of the CD-ROM can be produced as the project, and its associated document base, continues to evolve.
