Hyperviewer is a module of the StepWay Suite. This Suite is designed to ensure the management of technical documents (descriptive and applicable) throughout the Life Cycle of an industrial installation.

StepWay Hyperviewer is a data and document base "navigator" for Technical Knowledge Bases (descriptive data for industrial installations, product configuration, etc.). Hyperviewer is designed to serve as a graphic interface for a Documentum Docbase.

Fast and Easy Access to Critical Information : This document browser is designed to take into account the profile (process, electrical, mechanical, etc.) of the user which significantly facilitates navigation among documents.

Links between all the Technical Applications of a Site (Document Base, Computer Maintenance Management System, Stock, etc.) : This application allows the user to access information located in other databases via direct links, saving time for data visualization.

Adapted Navigation Screens : Based on the context of the user (domain, access rights, etc.).

Powerful Data Consistency Control : Hyperviewer allows a user to control the consistency of a Docbase, in controlling the "resolved" (availability of related data) and "unresolved" (no related data available) links.

"Quick-to-Use" Training Period : Hyperviewer's simple and pertinent interface allows users to immediately take advantage of the proposed navigation options.

 

StepWay Hyperviewer provides a user-friendly interface for simplified navigation among documents. Navigation in the Docbase is oriented by job discipline allowing for pertinent access to critical information.

Hyperviewer can be used with a standard or customized Docbase, or in addition to other modules of the StepWay Suite.

This browser allows the user to navigate among documents stored as renditions in the following formats : BMP, C4, CALS I, CALS II, DCX, JPEG, LD, MARS, NAVSEA, NIFF, PCX, PDA, PDF, TIFF, TMS.

Annotations on documents and hyperlinks are stored in the Docbase as separate objects.

Navigation in the document and databases makes use of the concept of "hyper-documents" (a hyper-zone which points at one or many documents) and of hyper-links (a hyper-zone associated with detailed queries of one or more databases).
Hyperviewer allows the user to navigate intuitively in the databases through the use of a pointing device.

The hyper-links can be designed for a customized visualization based on the user's job discipline and according to his access rights. With Hyperviewer, the images become the basis for Docbase and database navigation.

Users can then visualize on the screen, at the same time, all of the information coming from different sources, to perform their work :

  • Engineering Information with documentation,
  • Maintenance data from the CMMS,
  • Spare Parts availability from warehouse system,
  • Equipment price from procurement tool,
  • Etc.

Communication graphics (simplified process description, installation map, flow chart, etc.) can be integrated in order to respond to the needs of the users who are out in the field, and who may not have access to a keyboard or a standard pointing device.
