IndeXML is a module of the StepWay Suite. This Suite is designed to ensure the management of technical documents (descriptive and applicable) throughout the Life Cycle of an industrial installation.

IndeXML is intended to optimize the manual capturing of scanned document characteristics, for their integration in the Docbase. Once the characteristics are captured, XML Interface is employed, allowing for the automatic loading of a large volume of documents into a Docbase.

Work Load Reduction : The work load associated with data capture is significantly reduced since certain attributes are automatically determined by the application.

Save Time in Database Population : The architecture and the functions of IndeXML allow for the loading of a large volume of documents in a short amount of time.

Autonomy of the application : The data capture tasks may be carried out on sites that are not connected to the Docbase, allowing for the simultaneous collaboration of several sub-contractors.

Improved Quality : With visual and systematic verification of all scanned data to be integrated into the Docbase and/or database.

IndeXML aims at helping users to easily and efficiently capture data for defined batches of documents. This flexible application allows the user (or the team designated to carry out the indexing tasks), to capture the attributes and the links associated to a document. Once this has been achieved, XML files are generated to then populate the database with the encapsulated data.

The user need not be connected to the Documentum Docbase in order to capture the index data. The users enter the pertinent data elements from a group of scanned images, using an adapted parameterization.

IndeXML presents an adapted interface for bulk data capture, resulting in a significant reduction in the amount of time required for database creation. The tool is efficiently designed to facilitate the work of the operators with simple, user-friendly functions :

• Presentation by default of the document to be indexed : display of the entire document or a predefined zone (title block for example), allowing immediate visualization of the data to be entered,
• Recall of the last values captured in data fields,
• Assistance in selection of Documentum storage folder,
• Etc.

IndeXML is parameterized in accordance with the configuration of the targeted Docbase. The application automatically verifies the coherency of the encapsulated data with its destination.
