SINCOR C.A (composed of Total, PDVSA and Statoil), one of the consortiums currently operating in Venezuela for the development of heavy oil from the Orinoco belt, has decided to implement an Electronic Data and Document Management Solution based on the StepWay Suite : Documentum Application Interfaces. This system will be used by the SINCOR Core team to store and manage data and documents received from the four primary downstream EPCC firms during the Engineering, Construction and Commissioning phases of the project.
The StepWay tools implemented are :
- StepWay Engineer : to allow the Core team users to search for documents issued by the Engineering firms from different locations worldwide (United States, France, Germany),
- Hyperviewer : to allow for navigation in selected documents (PDF and TIFF files) with hyper-link capabilities,
- XML-Interface : to permit the integration of documents generated by the various Engineering firms, whether or not they are Documentum users. XML Interface, parametrized for each Engineering firm through the use of XSL style sheets, reorganizes the Engineering data and limits the type of data to be processed by Sincor.
- IndeXML : allows to automate data capture for documents supplied in paper format. This system will allow for the supply of a structured document base for the Operator at the end of the project.

PONTICELLI
Frères : OBITE Project
The objective of the project financed by PONTICELLI, is to optimize the diffusion of the On-site documentation among the different project participants involved in the construction of a hydrocarbon treatment plant in Nigeria (ELF Nigeria, SPIE, Kvaerner, PONTICELLI).
The technical data and documents generated during the final Engineering phase are stored on a CD-ROM and are accessible via StepWay Finder.
The search functions, and management capabilities of this CD-ROM are ensured by a customized search screen which can be developed via the API (Application Programming Interface).
A navigation via hypertext links has been implemented to facilitate access to pertinent information.
The creation of this CD-ROM allows PONTICELLI to deliver, in a coherent manner, "Approved for Construction" documentation which is immediately accessible.
This CD-ROM offers numerous benefits for the users :
- Provides Rapid Access to data and documents in an intuitive and convivial manner,
- Allows for Autonomous consultation,
- Presents a User-friendly Interface which may be customized based on project needs.
- Creates an On-site Archive of all project data and documents.
- Permits the Export of associated image files and indexes.
TELUCO SA integrated this solution.
The objective of this project, carried out for ETPM / SERIMER, was to simplify the production of "As Built" documentation for the TOTAL SIRRI project, as well as to create CD-ROMs for consultation of this documentation.
The StepWay applications implemented are as follows :
- IndeXML : to facilitate the indexing tasks for documents supplied in paper format, and to create navigation links from the main documents (PID, SLD, PFD, etc.)
-XML-Interface : to configure and populate the StepWay Finder document and database.
-StepWay Finder : to allow rapid and adapted multi-criteria searches for the "As Built" documentation, and to offer the possibility to export associated image files and indexes to ETDM and CMMS applications used for the operation of the installations.
The CD-ROMs, which contain advanced navigation, export and
search functions, created an added value for the "As Built" documentation
delivered to the future Operator by the project team.

SEMT
Pielstieck : PERISTYLE Project
The objective of the project financed by SEMT Pielstick, (MAN group), was to implement a Computer Production Management System solution for a new thermal power station in Guadeloupe. This solution includes CPMS (Maximo), ETDM (Documentum), StepWay applications and instrument panels for contract follow-up with an obligation for results (carried out by TELUCO).
The following StepWay applications were implemented :
-IndeXML : to facilitate the indexing tasks for documents supplied in paper format, and to create navigation links from the main documents (PID, SLD, PFD, etc.).
-XML-Interface : to configure and populate the Documentum Docbase and allow updates with automatic link maintenance.
-StepWay Operator : allowing rapid and adapted document search functions necessary for the maintenance of the power station.
Hyperviewer : allowing navigation, via hyper-links, among the documents and access to associated technical data, managed by the CMMS.
These different modules result in a significant reduction
in time required for the configuration and population of the Documentum
Docbase. The StepWay Suite provides the users with powerful search
functions and user-friendly navigation capabilities.
